Hello all, before anything else, I would like to say how much of an honor and privilege it is for me to be a part of Braided Roots. I consider myself extremely lucky to be in a position in which I can pass along the knowledge which has been shared with me. I believe that each one of us plays a role in our society, however small or large it may be. While we can’t change large scale issues we all face today, we can spread kindness, understanding, and empathy to those in our social sphere. 

I view plants very similarly as I view people. Each plant is an individual, just as each person is an individual. We can easily see this in ourselves and others, and most can see it in all animals they get to know. However, few of us notice that this is true of plants. Knowing this, and with my background in Native Land Restoration, it becomes difficult when frequently being asked "is this invasive? Does this belong here?". Who are we to say who belongs and who does not? 

Braided Roots stems from my philosophy that while we all come with different backgrounds, teachings, and experiences; with kindness and respect for each other we can braid all of us together into something much greater for our community and Mother Earth. I believe that Braided Roots can create community in which healing can come through spiritual connection to the Land.
